Access Control
Controlling access begins by authenticating users at the printer or multifunction device. This can be done with a PIN code, a password, or a proximity card. Users can be assigned privileges by an administrator, authorizing them to have access to certain features and functions on the device (copying, printing, scanning, faxing, etc.).
Pull Printing
When a user launches a print job, they must authenticate at the device before their document will print out. This feature can improve the security of sensitive documents by helping to reduce the likelihood of unattended documents lying on printer output trays, where they may be exposed to unauthorized persons.
Watermarking
Most comprehensive print management solutions can place a watermark across pages when printing and/or scanning. This feature can discourage unauthorized users from reproducing sensitive information.
