Simple human mistakes—such as leaving sensitive paper documents in a printer—can expose an organization to significant risks. Taking comprehensive Print Security measures can help your organization control print output and mitigate paper-based security vulnerabilities.
Explore each of our 5 Pillars of Security to see how Canon can help with security in your organization.

Canon’s 5 Pillars of Security presents a portfolio of security products and services in a meaningful way that groups solutions in functional areas. Print Security is a key component of our 5 Pillar approach.
Unsecured printers can put your organization at risk.
To help protect sensitive documents, you need to control them at every step—from the initial print command to the final output. Canon supports your organization with access to print management solutions that offer a range of critical security features.
- Access Control
- Pull Printing
- Watermarking
- Auditing
- Reproduction Security
Access Control
Controlling access begins by authenticating users at the printer or multifunction device. This can be done with a PIN code, a password, or a proximity card. Users can be assigned privileges by an administrator, authorizing them to have access to certain features and functions on the device (copying, printing, scanning, faxing, etc.).
Pull Printing
When a user launches a print job, they must authenticate at the device before their document will print out. This feature can improve the security of sensitive documents by helping to reduce the likelihood of unattended documents lying on printer output trays, where they may be exposed to unauthorized persons.
Watermarking
Most comprehensive print management solutions can place a watermark across pages when printing and/or scanning. This feature can discourage unauthorized users from reproducing sensitive information. Documents can be watermarked as confidential, copyright-protected, or as a draft version not for distribution.
Reproduction Security
The dominance of high-quality, high-speed digital printing makes any document with intrinsic value a potential target of counterfeiters. Whether you need to prevent altering or copying and pasting from a digital document, or photocopying a hardcopy original, Canon can help to provide the support you need.
