Service Notice: PIXMA MP510 Front Feeder Grinding Noise

Phenomenon
During printing or copying using the PIXMA MP510, there is the potential for a grinding noise to occur intermittently when using the front feed during printing or copying using the PIXMA MP510, there is the potential for a grinding noise to occur intermittently when using the front feeder as the paper source (see figure 1, (B) below). This grinding noise is likely to occur when the front feeder is used as the paper source, but only when there is no paper supply in the front feeder. The grinding noise does not occur when using the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) as the paper source (see figure 1, (A below).

If you experience the grinding noise described above, you may alleviate the problem by refilling the front feeder with paper. The grinding noise should have no affect on your ability to use the PIXMA MP510 or on its print or copy quality.
