Canon's world-renowned lineup of professional EF lenses includes over 50 models ranging from 14mm ultra-wide-angle to 1,200mm super-telephoto. All of these extraordinary lenses, except the EF-S, are compatible with the new EOS-1D MARK II.
Numerous convenient accessories are available for the EOS-1D MARK II, allowing users to meet additional needs. Besides a new camera strap and DVK-E2 data verification kit designed exclusively for this model, the EOS-1D MARK II is compatible with all accessories available for the EOS-1D and EOS-1Ds (except the DVK-E1, IFC-450D6, IFC-200D6). These accessories include the Ni-MH battery pack NP-E3 and Ni-MH battery charger NC-E2, DC coupler kit DCK-E1, various interface cables, a range of Speedlites, the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2, and many more.
Through Canon's advanced optical know-how and micron precision engineering, EF lenses offer unprecedented capabilities that meet wide-ranging needs. Leading features include an Ultrasonic Motor that silently drives the autofocus mechanism with very high precision, an Image Stabilizer that automatically compensates for camera shake via microcomputer, advanced aspherical optics, fluorite lenses, Ultra Low Dispersion (UD) lenses, and Super UD lenses.
Canon's sophisticated electronic lens mount technology communicates with the camera as soon as the lens is mounted to transfer information about the lens, such as its type, f-number and focal length, thus enabling faster, more precise control from the camera.
Data Verification Kit
While ease of manipulation is usually considered a key benefit of digital photography, officials involved in data verification considered it a liability until Canon's release of the optional DVK-E1, the world's first data verification kit for digital SLRs. This breakthrough was introduced as an option for the EOS-1D and EOS-1Ds cameras. And now Canon is offering a new improved version – the DVK-E2 – as an option for the EOS-1D MARK II.
Like its predecessor, this kit can verify whether or not a photo is an untouched original. But its use of a Secure Mobile (SM) card reader, instead of an IC card reader, makes it more compact than the previous version. Moreover, the versatile DVK-E2 is able to verify images photographed by the EOS-1Ds as long as they are appended with a data verification image.
Digital Photo Professional is a new high-speed RAW image processing program that facilitates the workflow of professional photographers. It dramatically speeds the processing of RAW images by employing a newly-developed, dedicated image processing engine, and can process images taken by any digital SLR camera in the EOS-1D series.
The interface of Digital Photo Professional is also streamlined to boost work efficiency. From the start, images are displayed as thumbnails on the main screen to help users select images for processing. Image editing features include the ability to adjust white balance for multiple images simultaneously. Various sorting functions further facilitate the search for desired images, and thumbnails can be displayed in a choice of three sizes or in a special layout with shooting data and a histogram alongside each image.
