Magnesium alloy body with shutter durability and dust- and weather-resistance
For professionals who demand nothing less than the best, the EOS 5D Mark III is designed to perform superbly, even in the most treacherous environments, every time. The body is constructed of rigid, high-strength magnesium alloy for rugged performance and features a new grip design for easier finger placement and reduced hand fatigue. Its newly redesigned shutter has lightweight and carbon-fiber blades, and is rated to maintain up to 6.0 fps performance without compromise, for up to 150,000 cycles. The EOS 5D Mark III and accessories like the new Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E7A and GPS Receiver GP-E2 have extensive gasketing for improved dust and water resistance, even at their connection points.
Self Cleaning Sensor Unit
The Self Cleaning Sensor Unit featured in the EOS 5D Mark II has been optimized for the new EOS 5D Mark III to deliver even greater dust removal for clearer images. To prevent dust accumulation, the system removes particles adhered to the surface of the infrared absorbing/ultraviolet-blocking glass in a frontward direction by vibrating the glass with ultrasound. The particles are then absorbed by an adsorbent at the bottom of the unit; the unit itself is completely sealed for protection against external contaminants, and its front face of the low-pass filter 1 is treated with an anti-dust fluorine coating making it easier to remove damp or sticky dust particles.
Best Camera I had
I have been doing mostly landscapes and portraits with this camera and may I say it has been by far the best choice I could have ever made. My next venture is to start taking sport shots to test out the AF system. Grade A

Still Shooters Abandoned
I wish Canon would produce a camera without all the video features. It would be nice to purchase a camera that just takes pictures. Leave out all the video stuff that goes unused and give the photographer, "the photographer" something they can benefit from. How about a dedicated mirror lockup button. Include a voice memo function like the 1D series. Better low light focus accuracy. Include a focus assist light on the pro cameras. Wifi on the pro cameras. Put some R&D into a faster sync speed. How about camera based image stabilization?

Worth the upgrade
This camera has a learning curve but it is quite amazing. You need to use good glass to realize it's potential. Crazy good ISO performance. Glad that they improved fps from the 'Mark II. Highly recommend making the move to his camera. The improved 61 focus point is also a nice upgrade as well.

Just got my new 5D Mark III. When the CF card I ordered arrived it did not work and tried 2 others that work with canon cameras. Would not even format.
Today picked camera out of bag and the top of the mode dial fell off.
Camera now off to canon service center and upset that I have to pay shipping on a warranty repair of a brand new camera. This on top of the use of the camera for about 2 weeks. Not a good reflection on Professional Quality Camera or customer relations.
