       Getting Started  
     
  • Check the network connection environment.
    • The mobile terminal must be connected to a wireless LAN access point.
    • The access point and the Canon device you are using must be connected by LAN or wireless LAN.
  • Confirm that the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile terminal are enabled.
  • Download Canon Mobile Printing and install it.
 
       
       Selecting/Detecting the Device  
      1.Select or display the image(s)/file/web page you want to print.
For details, see "Printing Images," "Printing Microsoft Office Files," "Printing PDF Files," or "Printing Web Pages."

2.In the [Preview] screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Printer].

3.In the [Select Printer] screen, select the device you want to use.

The registered devices are displayed in list form.
If you are registering a device for the first time, follow the procedure below.
Automatic Discovery of a Device on the Same Network
Manual Search by Specifying IP Address/FQDN

NOTE
Tapping the detail icon in the [Select Printer] screen enables you to confirm detailed device information. (→ "Confirming Device Information")

Automatic Discovery of a Device on the Same Network

NOTE
  • You can register up to ten devices in the [Select Printer] screen list. If ten devices are already registered, perform a search after deleting a registered device. (→ "Confirming Device Information")
  • Depending on the network environment to which the mobile terminal is connected, the device might not be discovered by [Select Printer] - [Auto Search]. If this happens, enter the IP address of the device in [Manual Search]. If the device is still not discovered, check the network settings of the device, the wireless router, and the mobile terminal, or contact your network administrator.

1.In the [Select Printer] screen, tap [Auto Search].

Discovered devices are displayed.
If the device you want to use is not displayed, follow the procedure "Manual Search by Specifying IP Address/FQDN" below.

2.Select the device → confirm the device information in the displayed dialog box → tap [Add].
The device is registered in the [Select Printer] screen list.

Manual Search by Specifying IP Address/FQDN

NOTE
You can register up to ten devices in the [Select Printer] screen list. If ten devices are already registered, perform a search after deleting a registered device. (→ "Confirming Device Information")

1.In the [Select Printer] screen, tap [Manual Search].

2.Enter the IP address or FQDN name of the device you want to use → tap [OK].

To confirm the IP address of the device, see "How to Confirm the IP Address of the Device."
If you search by specifying an FQDN, enter the format including host name, subdomain name, and domain name such as described in below.
If the host name is "device01", the subdomain name is "aaa", and the domain name is "bbb.com":
device01.aaa.bbb.com

3.Select the device → confirm the device information in the displayed dialog box → tap [Add].
The device is registered in the [Select Printer] screen list.
 
       
       Registering a Print Server  
      You can register devices other than Canon devices, such as print servers, as output destinations.

NOTE
You can register up to ten devices in the [Select Printer] screen list. If ten devices are already registered, perform a search after deleting a registered device. (→ "Confirming Device Information")

1.Select or display the image(s)/file/web page you want to print.
For details, see "Printing Images," "Printing Microsoft Office Files," "Printing PDF Files," or "Printing Web Pages."

2.In the [Preview] screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Printer].

3.In the [Select Printer] screen, tap [Manual Search].

4.Enter the IP address or FQDN name of the device you want to use → tap [OK].

To confirm the IP address of the device, see "How to Confirm the IP Address of the Device."
If you search by specifying an FQDN, enter the format including host name, subdomain name, and domain name such as described in below.
If the host name is "device01", the subdomain name is "aaa", and the domain name is "bbb.com":
device01.aaa.bbb.com

5.After [Could not find a supported printer.] is displayed in the [Manual Search] screen, tap [Register As].

6.In the [Register As] dialog box, enter a name in [Registered Name].

7.If required, set [Queue Name], [Printer Port], and [Byte count].

8.Tap [Register].
The device is registered in the [Select Printer] screen list.

NOTE
  • To change registered device information, see "Confirming Device Information."
  • If you register a device that corresponds to the UFRII LT printer driver, you may not be able to print.
  • Depending on the print server you are using, if the share name of a device registered with the print server and the name set in [Queue Name] of Canon Mobile Printing do not match, you may not be able to print.
 
       
       Confirming Device Information  
      1.Select or display the image(s)/file/web page you want to print.
For details, see "Printing Images," "Printing Microsoft Office Files," "Printing PDF Files," or "Printing Web Pages."

2.In the [Preview] screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Printer].
The [Select Printer] screen is displayed.

[Select Printer] Screen
Device List
The registered devices are displayed in list form.

To change the device to be used, tap the device name.
To delete a device from the list, tap and hold the device name, then tap [Delete] in the displayed dialog box.

The icon indicates the following content.
[]: Devices whose maximum paper width is A4/Letter.
Devices that do not have this icon can print larger paper sizes than A4/Letter.
[]/[]: Color/B&W devices.
[]: PDF direct printing compatible devices (devices equipped with PDF direct printing or the PS printing function, or with an optional HDD, ROM, or RAM attached)
[]: There is information from the device.

[] (Access Point)
Displays the wireless LAN connection state and access point SSID.

[Printer Details] Screen
Tapping the detail icon in the [Select Printer] screen enables you to check detailed information.

Displays the device status, [Printer Name], [Product Name], [IP Address], and [MAC Address].
For PDF direct printing compatible devices (devices equipped with PDF direct printing or the PS printing function, or with an optional HDD, ROM, or RAM attached), [ ] is displayed.

[Update Printer Information]
This function is displayed when the device supports acquisition of configuration information. It acquires device information and displays the following in the [Print Settings] screen, depending on what functions are installed in and supported by the device.
  • [Job] > [Secure Print]
  • [Dept. ID Mgt.]
  • [2-sided]
  • [Staple]

Normally, information is acquired and applied in the [Print Settings] screen when the device is registered. Use this function in the following cases.
  • The app is updated from Version 2.0.0 or earlier to Version 2.1.0 or later.
  • The configuration information of the device cannot be acquired during registration of the device.
  • The options of the device are changed after registration.

[Port Settings]
You can set the queue name and type of printer port of the device.

[Print Options]
Switches PDF direct printing on and off when printing a PDF file from a PDF direct printing compatible device.

[Remove from List]
You can delete a displayed device from the [Select Printer] screen list.

[Support Site]
You can access the Canon support site.
 
       
       Printing Images  
      1.In the home screen of your mobile terminal, tap [M Printing].

2.In the top screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Images].

3.Select a folder → tap the image(s) you want to print.

Only image files whose formats are printable are displayed.

4.Tap [Select] in the enlarged preview.

5.If you want to print multiple images, repeat steps 3-4.
You can select up to 20 images at one time.

6.Tap [Preview].
Tapping a thumbnail displays an enlarged preview in the [Preview] screen. If you want to print multiple images, you can confirm each image in the enlarged preview.
To cancel your selection, tap [].

7.In the [Preview] screen, confirm or select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Selecting/Detecting the Device."

8.If required, tap the print settings → configure the required settings → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Changing the Print Settings."

9.Tap [Print] in the [Preview] screen.

NOTE
From other apps, you can activate Canon Mobile Printing and print by following the procedure below.
1.Open (or select) the image you want to print in the app.
2.Select [Share] or [Send] from the menu.
The name of the item on the menu differs for each app.
3.Select [M Printing].
4.Configure the settings as described in step 7 onward of this topic.
 
       
       Printing Microsoft Office Files  
      You must use the Data Conversion Service on the Internet to print Microsoft Office files. For information about restrictions, see "What is the Data Conversion Service?."
1.In the home screen of your mobile terminal, tap [M Printing].

2.In the top screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Documents].

3.Select a folder → select the Microsoft Office file you want to print.

4.In the [Preview] screen, confirm or select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Selecting/Detecting the Device."

5.If required, tap the print settings → configure the required settings → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Changing the Print Settings."

6.Tap [Print] in the [Preview] screen.

7.In the confirmation dialog box for using the Data Conversion Service, set a proxy if required → tap [OK].

After the mobile terminal connects to the server on the Internet and the data is converted, printing begins.

NOTE
  • When using the Data Conversion Service for the first time, the Terms of Use are displayed. Read the content and if you agree, tap [Agree].
  • If you require a proxy to access the Internet from the Wi-Fi network you are using, select [Use proxy] when using the Data Conversion Service and set the proxy. Consult your network administrator about the required settings.
  • When using the Data Conversion Service, uploading and downloading data may take several minutes depending on the content of the data to be printed and the communication environment you are using.

NOTE
  • If you want to check a preview before printing, tap [Preview] in the [Preview] screen, and use the Data Conversion Service to display a print preview. Tapping the print preview displays an enlarged preview.
  • When printing Microsoft Office files of multiple pages, you can check each page in an enlarged preview. With Microsoft Excel (xls and xlsx) files consisting of multiple sheets, all of the sheets can be printed. To delete unnecessary pages, tap [] in the enlarged preview.
  • When printing Microsoft Office files that acquire and display information such as date, time, and file name when the file is opened, the print result may differ from the information displayed on the mobile terminal.

NOTE
  • If you change the device you are using or [Output Size] after displaying a print preview, you need to convert the data again using the Data Conversion Service in order to correctly lay out the data on the page.
  • From other apps, you can activate Canon Mobile Printing and print by following the procedure below.

1.Open (or select) the Microsoft Office file you want to print in the app.
2.Select [Share] or [Send] from the menu.
The name of the item on the menu differs for each app.
3.Select [M Printing].
4.Configure the settings as described in step 4 onward of this topic.
 
       
       Printing PDF Files  
      The printing method for PDF files varies according to the specifications of the device to be used for printing.
  • With PDF direct printing compatible devices*, the PDF file is sent directly to the device and printed. For restrictions, see "PDF Direct Printing Restrictions of Use."
    • * [] is displayed in the [Select Printer] screen. You can select whether to use PDF direct printing in the [Printer Details] screen > [Print Options]. (→ "Confirming Device Information")
  • If you are using a device other than the above, print according to the following procedure.

1.In the home screen of your mobile terminal, tap [M Printing].

2.In the home screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Documents].

3.Select a folder → select the PDF file you want to print.

If you select a password-protected PDF, enter the password.

4.In the [Preview] screen, confirm or select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.

5.If required, tap the print settings → configure the required settings → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Changing the Print Settings."

6.Tap [Print] in the [Preview] screen.

Printing begins.
If PDF printing is not performed satisfactorily, you may be able to improve the result by switching [PDF Preview Method] - [Data Conversion Service] in the [Print Settings] screen [ON] or [Off].

If a dialog box verifying Data Conversion Service use is displayed when you set [Data Conversion Service] to ON, set a proxy if required → tap [OK].

After the mobile terminal connects to the server on the Internet and the data is converted, printing begins.

NOTE
  • When using the Data Conversion Service for the first time, the Terms of Use are displayed. Read the content and if you agree, tap [Agree].
  • If you require a proxy to access the Internet from the Wi-Fi network you are using, select [Use proxy] when using the Data Conversion Service and set the proxy. Consult your network administrator about the required settings.
  • When using the Data Conversion Service, uploading and downloading data may take several minutes depending on the content of the data to be printed and the communication environment you are using.

NOTE
  • You can set a range of 1 to 99 for [Specify Page] under [Print Range].
  • You may not be able to print PDF files correctly depending on the PDF file version and content. This phenomenon occurs because when you print a newer version PDF file than the PDF version supported by the printer/options that you are using, only those parts of the newer PDF specification that correspond to the supported version specification are enabled.
  • If you change [Output Size] or the device used for printing after displaying the print preview, you must convert the data again in order to correctly lay out the data on the page.
 
       
       Printing Web Pages  
      1.In the home screen of your mobile terminal, tap [M Printing].

2.In the home screen of Canon Mobile Printing, tap [Web].

3.Display the web page you want to print by entering a URL or searching with keywords.

Tapping [] enables you to access web pages from the bookmark list of the mobile terminal default browser.

4.Tap [Preview].
Tapping a print preview displays an enlarged preview. If you want to print multiple pages, you can confirm each page in the enlarged preview.
To delete unnecessary pages, tap [].

5.In the [Preview] screen, select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Selecting/Detecting the Device."

6.If required, tap the print settings → configure the required settings → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the print settings, see "Changing the Print Settings."

7.Tap [Print] in the [Preview] screen.

NOTE
From other browser, you can activate Canon Mobile Printing and print by following the procedure below.
1.Display the web page you want to print in the browser.
2.Select [Share] or [Send] from the menu.
The name of the item on the menu differs for each app.
3.Select [M Printing].
4.Configure the settings as described in step 4 onward of this topic.
 
       
       Saving Data in an Inbox  
      If you are using a device that supports the inbox function, you can store print data in an inbox of the device. You can print, change the settings of, and combine stored data from the control panel of the device or the Remote UI.
1.Select or display the image(s)/file/web page you want to print.
For details, see "Printing Images," "Printing Microsoft Office Files," "Printing PDF Files," or "Printing Web Pages."

2.In the [Preview] screen of Canon Mobile Printing, confirm or select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Selecting/Detecting the Device."

3.Tap the print settings → tap [Job].

4.In the [Job] dialog box, select [Store] → tap the detail icon.

5.In the [Store] screen, tap [Mail Box].

6.Select an inbox number as a store destination → tap [OK].

If required, you can also change the document name.

7.Return to the [Job] > [Print Settings] > [Preview] screen.

8.In the [Preview] screen, tap [Store].

NOTE
For information about printing the file in the inbox, refer to the manuals provided with the device.
 
       
       Changing the Print Settings  
      Tap the items you want to change in the [Preview] > [Print Settings] screen.

Descriptions of Settings

[Job]
Select an output method for print data.
[Print]: Performs normal printing.
[Store]: Stores the print data in an inbox in the device. (→ "Saving Data in an Inbox")
[Secure Print]: You can attach a PIN to print data and save it in the device. This function is useful when you want to print a confidential document. (→ "Executing Secure Printing")
[User Name]: Displays the user name for the print. You can change the user name by tapping it. (→ "Changing the User Name for the Print Data")

[Dept. ID Mgt.]
You can manage printing using department IDs and PINs. (→ "Executing Department ID Management")

[Output Size]
Select the paper size to be printed on.
If you turn [Minimize Margins and Print] on, this expands the print region to the edges of the paper. Depending on the content of the print data, part of the edge data may be lost when printing. The minimum width of margins differs depending on the device model.

NOTE
When executing PDF direct printing*, margins are always set to the minimum regardless of the [Minimize Margins and Print] setting.

[Copies]


Set the number of copies to be printed.

[Print Range]
Set the range of pages to be printed.

[Source]
Select [Auto] (uses the device setting) or [Tray].

[Color]
Switches between color and grayscale (black and white) printing. Select [Auto] for normal situations.

[2-sided]
Switches between 1-sided and 2-sided printing.

[Staple]
Switches whether to staple the pages.
The page is stapled at the positions shown in red in the thumbnail on the [Preview] screen.

NOTE
When executing PDF direct printing*, the document may be stapled at different positions to those indicated in the thumbnail image.
* [] is shown in the [Select Printer] screen for PDF direct printing compatible devices. (→ "Confirming Device Information")

[2 on 1]
Switches whether to print two pages on one sheet of paper.

[PDF Preview Method]
If you want to use the Data Conversion Service to preview a PDF, set [Data Conversion Service] to [ON].

NOTE
Available settings differ depending on the device model.
If you set functions that are not supported by the device you are using, the settings will not be applied. (→"Data Is Not Printed According to the Print Settings")
When the device supports acquisition of configuration information, if you use the [Select Printer] > [Printer Details] > [Update Printer Information] function, you can display the items corresponding to the functions of the device in the [Print Settings] screen. (→"Confirming Device Information")
 
       
       Changing the User Name for the Print Data  
      The default user name for the print data is the model name of the mobile terminal. If you manage a print job at the device, you can change the user name if required.

1.Select or display the image(s)/file/web page you want to print.
For details, see "Printing Images," "Printing Microsoft Office Files," "Printing PDF Files," or "Printing Web Pages."

2.In the [Preview] screen of Canon Mobile Printing, select the device you want to use.

The device name you selected last time is displayed in [Printer].
To select a new device, tap [Printer] → select the device → return to the [Preview] screen.
For details on how to configure the settings, see "Selecting/Detecting the Device."

3.Tap the print settings → tap [Job].

4.Tap [User Name] in the [Job] screen.

5.Enter a user name → tap [OK].

6.Return to the [Job] > [Print Settings] > [Preview] screen.

7.In the [Preview] screen, tap [Print].
