Bringing Missing Children Home
Statistics show that the first three hours are the most important in finding a missing child. The faster photographs and information can be distributed to law enforcement agencies, the greater the chance for recovery.
A photo can often be the most valuable tool when a child is missing. Canon's digital cameras, scanners, photo printers, and other products are helping NCMEC and law enforcement quickly distribute photographs of missing children.
Canon is helping NCMEC bring missing children home in many ways:
- Each year, the Canon/NCMEC Celebrity Golf Tournament helps NCMEC to raise awareness and funds for its programs to help find missing children and prevent the exploitation of children. To date, Canon has helped NCMEC raise and invest more than $5 million through product, service and monetary donations.
- Creating public service advertisements with the photos of missing children for national newspapers and magazines.
- Donations of digital cameras, scanners and printers to NCMEC for distribution to law enforcement to help quickly disseminate photos and information nationwide to locate missing children.
- Sponsoring NCMEC's annual Hope Awards Benefit and Congressional Breakfast in Washington, D.C., to commemorate National Missing Children's Day and recognize law enforcement officials and others who have contributed to the recovery of missing children.
