In order to use the printer via wired / wireless network, the main unit of the printer must support network.
This guide includes how to perform the setup on the printer's side and how to connect the printer with the access point.
I could not, in good conscience, recommend this printer.
Ink use is excessive and reliability is questionable and the cost per print is outrageous.

Very Happy 9500 MarkII Upgrade
Upgraded from the 9500 Mark II even though I loved that printer, too. The Pro1 is even better. Great images and nice large cartridges (although pricey). But worth it so that I don't have to change them as often and the price/ml is less. Even with the first cartridges draining faster, they still lasted a while. And they go for quite a while even after getting a warning from My Printer that they are running low. Never had one go out in the middle of a printing, so they must have a sensor or something.
Images are outstanding and discovered my new favorite paper (Canson Platine). Paper handling is nicer than the 9500 for large sheets (no more front feeding).
No complaints. Footprint isn't an issue as I have space for the beast. Takes a while to get primed sometimes, but most times I'm not in a hurry...it is worth the wait!

As a former owner of a 9500 I researched other printers but went back with the Canon because if you send canon your own picture they will send you back a print to view while other companies will send you a print of their choice not yours.
If you are looking for a simple printer to print the occasional photo then save your money and buy a cheaper version but if you are looking for a printer that produces professional results the Pro 1 is a great printer. As with any photo printer you need to be familiar with using ICC profiles and driver settings to obtain the best results when printing. The included profiles are great and when compared to other prints are superior but if you have the capability to create your own profile then the Pro 1 just keeps getting better matching skin tones flawlessly. Once profiled the Pro 1 prints consistent colors across all of the print media that I have tried while the stock profiles seem to perform better with canon papers.
Pigment based ink printers are designed to be used frequently and I imagine that the Pro 1 is no different so again if you plan to use it occasionally a cheaper printer may be better suited and even the dye based inks will dry in the printer head if not used for a long period.
A lot of negative reviews about ink usage but I cannot see that the Pro one is using any more ink than other printer models of this caliber. If you are familiar with print driver settings and profiles then the ink usage is kept within reason but the wrong driver not matching the paper can cause some additional ink being used but like stated ink usage is no more than other printers in this class. I have noticed that my print cost has gone up .01 on a 4x6 and .03 on an 8x10 but the cost is minimal compared to the quality that you get.
When getting into printers of this quality they get large in size and this one is no exception with it being substantially larger than my old 9500 so make sure you read the specifications to verify you have adequate space for this printer.
I would highly recommend this printer and as of now I am pleased with the Pro 1, if you are an experienced user I would not hesitate to purchase one, if you are new to printing then start reading up on software, driver settings and ICC profiles and purchase the Pro1.
