EOS HD Video with manual exposure control and multiple frame rates
The EOS 6D captures HD video with a level of sophistication on par with professional movie cameras, offering phenomenal performance on a DSLR. It offers both All-I (UHS-I memory card is required) and IPB compression, supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile, and automatically splits files greater than 4GB (FAT specifications) for extended recording without interruption. It offers the option of timecoding during recording only (Rec Run) or at all times (Free Run), useful for multi-camera shoots. It also features improved sound recording adjustment capabilities, offering 64-step volume control accessible through the Quick Control screen, as well as a 3.5mm microphone terminal. The CMOS sensor’s drive system significantly increases image processor performance, reducing color artifacts and moiré (a common problem that occurs in scenes with horizontal lines), and ensures that the EOS 6D can record at a number of frame rates up to ISO 25600 in H mode.
Compresses each frame. Although the file size is larger than IPB, each frame is not affected by the previous and next frames, making it suitable for editing and extracting frames.
Compresses the movie frame by referencing the previous and next frames. High compression is used, making it suitable for recording long movies.
This is a great camera
I am very enthusiastic about this camera. It was bought after carefully considering the 5DMkII and 5DMkIII. After looking at each camera this was by far the best choice. I am delighted with the camera both in the field and in the studio. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering getting a camera as a replacement or as the first digital camera. Some folks say it isn't a "professional" quality camera. If you're depending on the camera to make you a "professional", or do professional quality work, then you need to get some training and some skills. I would recommend getting the external battery holder.

So Glad I Went For It!
After months of deliberation, I sold my 5d II and purchased the 6d with kit lens. So very happy that I did! The photos this combo produces are absolutely stunning. Great color, contrast and sharpness. This set-up is a little bit lighter than my previous, and has more features. Love the ability to use higher ISO and still have great shots. It is great for a beginner, as well as a more advanced shooter. I only wish it had the same focus system as the 70D, but can live with it. It is definitely a camera that I will use for years to come.

I purchased the 6d to take a photography class in college. I am more than happy with it. The images when adjusted with the correct exposure and focus are professional magazine front cover quality (of course several other factors go into taking a photo not just focus and exposure). It is extremely durable and solid. I love the wifi capability. If you own a iPhone or newer generation iPod the EOS app works great with the 6d. It makes it super fast to download the set of images or select only the best images and have them ready to be post processed or shared in no time. The body will work with the full line of EOS lenses so the only thing I would recommend to a person interested in buying any new SLR camera is to understand the type of photography you would be doing the majority of the time and buy the best EOS lens for the job at hand. I only say that because I find myself doing a lot of macro photography and the 24-105mm lens that comes with the 6d is decent for macro but not phenomenal. Know the limits of your lens and start building your lens kits to fit your needs best. I have taken over 4,000 photos so far on my 6d and I love it, cant seem to put it down. Great job Canon.
