Canon U.S.A. Unveils Four New Additions To Its Digital Radiography Portfolio

New CXDI-401 and CXDI-401 COMPACT Digital Radiography (DR) System Series Offers Excellent, High-Resolution Image Clarity

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., May 3, 2011 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today introduced four general flat panel digital radiography systems, the CXDI-401C, CXDI-401C COMPACT, CXDI-401G and CXDI-401G COMPACT DR Systems1. The 510(k) cleared, lightweight systems offer an approximately 17-inch by 17-inch imaging area, making them ideal for diagnostic imaging areas and radiology rooms. These four new general flat panel detectors are highly sensitive and offer high signal-to-noise performance.

Utilizing Canon's newly developed glass substrate, all four detectors feature an pixel pitch of 125 microns with approximately 11.3 million megapixels on an approximate 17-inch by 17-inch imaging area, allowing medical practitioners to capture precision images from nearly any anatomical view. Coupled with a quick image preview and processed image display of approximately three to five seconds, the four new models provide a quick, high-resolution DR solution for practitioners and radiology centers. Additionally, the CXDI-401C and CXDI-401C COMPACT DR systems incorporate a Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator, which minimizes the radiation exposure to patients during X-rays.

"With the addition of the CXDI-401 series to our digital radiography product portfolio, Canon U.S.A. now offers one of the most versatile and robust line-ups of DR systems for medical practitioners," said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. "Whether utilizing the COMPACT DR models for upgrades or expanding radiology capabilities with the CXDI-401 DR series, these new general detectors will provide users with a fast, reliable, and precision DR solution."

Further enhancing the functionality of the new series, all four general flat panel digital radiography systems incorporate Canon's CXDI Control Software NE which helps optimize workflow by reducing the number of operational steps and supporting multiple patient studies. The software also delivers precise x-ray parameters for the operator and provides the actual exposure factors and patient dose information, so patients and doctors know the exact exposure levels during an X-ray.

For medical practitioners and orthopedic offices seeking an easy, high-resolution upgrade, the CXDI-401C COMPACT and CXDI-401G COMPACT DR Systems are ideal systems as they both easily fit into most universal Bucky systems. Boasting the same resolution and high-sensitivity as the larger models, these two COMPACT DR models weigh approximately 15 pounds and features a sleeker, minimal housing unit for improved ease-of-use and simple inclusion into existing radiology departments.

The Canon CXDI-401 and CXDI-401 COMPACT DR Systems Series are scheduled to be available in second quarter of 2011.
