Preview Canon's First Full-Auto Tonometer Prototype With Built-In Pachymeter At The 2011 Vision Expo East And Conference

NEW YORK, NY - March 17, 2011 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, will preview the non-contact, TX-20P Full-Auto Tonometer1 prototype at this year's Vision Expo East at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. In addition to the TX-20P tonometer prototype, visitors will be able to explore the Company's current full line of ophthalmic solutions at the Canon booth (booth # MS1153).

The Canon TX-20P Full-Auto Tonometer is designed to capture the complete automated measurement of both intraocular pressure (IOP) and central corneal thickness (CCT) in both eyes, helping eye care professionals detect and monitor eye care disorders, such as glaucoma and ocular hypertension, at an early stage. The TX-20P prototype incorporates a pachymeter that will automatically calculate and display corrected eye pressure measurements.

Integrating Digital Imaging Technology and Workflow Management for the Ophthalmic World

In addition to the TX-20P Full Auto Tonometer prototype, Canon U.S.A. will display:

  • The CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera has a light (weighing only 33 pounds), more compact, leading-edge design, resulting in an intuitive instrument that is easy to use. The CR-2 retinal camera can be easily installed and takes up minimal office space or for added convenience, can be easily transported when needed. Contributing to a lower total-cost-of-ownership, the CR-2 retinal camera's energy-efficient design with white LED for flash intensity improves maintenance and uses less power, helping to reduce energy costs in medical facilities. The low flash intensity of the CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera minimizes pupil constriction thereby shortening the time required for taking multiple pictures such as binocular, stereo photography. It also helps avoid having to retake images due to patient's blinking. The CR-2 retinal camera's small pupil mode has a 3.3 mm diameter that contributes to efficient screening and assists when a patient's pupil is difficult to dilate. The auto exposure function optimizes image brightness without having to manually set the observation light and flash intensity.
  • The CX-1 Hybrid Digital Mydriatic/Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera is the Company's first fully hybrid digital retinal camera with both mydriatic and non-mydriatic modes. With one touch, the operator can automatically switch between mydriatic and non-mydriatic modes, effortlessly utilizing different functions within seconds and performing several concurrent ocular tests. The CX-1 allows the user to take one-shot Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF) photography in a standard configuration, for both mydriatic and non-mydriatic modes. FAF is the occurrence of autofluorescence in macular waste, particularly Lipofuscin. Examinations that check and monitor autofluorescent waste material are a key step in detecting Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Using the non-mydriatic mode not only saves time and resources, it can also make the diagnostic procedure more comfortable for the patient.
  • OPTOPOL Technology S.A. SPOCT HR2 provides ultra-high resolution which can help give a doctor more comfort in diagnosis. Optical Coherence Tomography ultra-high scanning speeds shorten data collecting times and help to improve comfort of examination for patient and operator. The SPOCT HR has three micron axial resolution and advanced analysis algorithm.
  • OPTOPOL Technology S.A. PTS 1000 automated perimeter is a diagnostic instrument that offers precise and fast testing of the field of vision. The silent performing PTS 1000 features static and kinetic stimuli with all Goldmann stimuli sizes and all stimuli colors used in perimetry. Auto-detection of the eye position may be monitored with the built-in video monitor. A wide range of strategies and analysis tools combined with intuitive interface give the user a powerful diagnostic tool, whose handling they will enjoy. Built-in maps and the possibility of creating one's own map, provide the opportunity to examine only necessary areas. Along with the predefined templates, the advanced printout manager allows custom layouts to be created and saved.
